Obituary for Elizabeth E. (Steitz) McGuire

Hague. Elizabeth E. (Steitz) McGuire passed on to her heavenly home, March 2, 2019, at the age of 97, surrounded by family.

Born in Camden, New Jersey, July 19, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Pauline (Thompson) Steitz.

Mrs. McGuire was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a nurse during W.W. II. She became an office nurse in Trenton, New Jersey, after her discharge.

Betty married James McGuire on August 31, 1945. Betty and Jim retired to the town of Hague, NY, in June of 1984.

Betty was a congregant of the Hague Baptist Church, and was involved in Home Bureau as well as the Champlain Valley Chorale and a volunteer at the Moses-Ludington Hospital.

She is pre-deceased by her husband, James McGuire; her parents, Albert and Pauline Steitz; two brothers, Albert Steitz and Dr. Arthur Steitz; and one sister, Virginia (Steitz) Stier.

Betty is survived by her son, Timothy McGuire and his wife, Barb of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and her daughter, Wendy McGuire of Hague, NY. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Jenni (Paul) Smith of Ticonderoga, Christopher Kuzianik of Hague, Rebecca (Kyle) Baker and Cari (James) Hodge of Olympia, WA; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home, 11 Algonkin St., Ticonderoga.

A Funeral Service will follow on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. The Rev. Cory MacNeil, Pastor of the Hague Baptist Church will officiate.

Interment with Military Honors will take place in the Spring at the family plot of the May Memorial Cemetery of Hague.
