Obituary for Leah M. Nolan

Mechanicville/Ticonderoga. Leah M. Nolan, 94, of Mechanicville and formerly of Ticonderoga, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the Terrace at Eddy Memorial of Troy.

Born in Plattsburgh, New York, April 7, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Nathalia (Demers) St. Denis.

Leah graduated from D”Youville Academy of Plattsburgh as Valedictorian of her high school class in 1941.

Leah married John J. Nolan on June 4, 1966 in the Holy Cross Church of Albany.

She was employed by the New York Telephone Company in Albany for 25 years, until her retirement in 1978. She was the Staff Supervisor of the Public Service Commission in the Complaints Department. Through the years she was also employed as an Office Worker for the Selective Service Board and Secretary to the Manager of Pal Razor Blade Company of Plattsburgh.

After her husband’s retirement in 2000, they moved to Ticonderoga, NY, where they lived for several years.

Mrs. Nolan was a volunteer for Right to Life in Plattsburgh, Albany and Florida. She wintered in Naples, Florida for 22 years. She was a member of the Legion of Mary in Plattsburgh and Albany.

She was pre-deceased by her husband of 43 years, John J. Nolan on December 18, 2009. She was also pre-deceased by one grandchild, Mark Nolan.

Survivors include their seven children, Kevin Nolan of Springhill, Florida, Kathleen Coughlin (Allan) of Boca Raton, Florida, John J. Nolan, Jr. of Dade City, Florida, Mary Dahl of Clifton Park, Dennis Nolan (Frank) of Clifton Park, Elizabeth Bursey (Kevin) of Latham, and Michael Nolan (Elizabeth) of Green Island. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 22 Father Jogues Place, Ticonderoga, New York.

The Rite of Committal will take place at the family plot of St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery of Ticonderoga.
